Iran, Iraq emphasize expanding security cooperation

TEHRAN, Oct. 12 (MNA) – Officials from Iran and Iraq stressed the need to expand security cooperation and data exchanges between borders of the two countries.

Head of Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMUs), also known as Hashd al-Sha'abi, Faleh al-Fayaz met and held talks Iran's Police Commander, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan in Tehran to discuss bilateral ties and expansion of the security cooperation between the two countries. 

Al-Fayaz seized this opportunity to congratulate the “Police Week” to Brigadier General Radan, stating the friendly and brotherly country of Iran has always stood by the Iraqi people.

Referring to the close cooperation between the two countries in various fields, he emphasized strengthening security and law enforcement cooperation, especially at border points, and joint coordination and exchange of information and border security between the two neighboring countries.

Iran’s police commander, for his part, expressed his thanks to the unflinching and nonstop efforts of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Unit in organizing the Arbaeen rituals, noting that Iran’s law enforcement forces and Iraq’s security forces including Hashd al-Shaabi have established excellent cooperation and interaction in the better organizing the Arbaeen rituals.
